Mercury (click here to bid on this painting)

Mercury
Oil - 11 x 14"
This is one of the world's great icons, probably one of the most well known sculptures of the world, perched atop of the entrance to the Grand Central Terminal at 42nd Street in New York, NY, in midtown Manhattan. The heroic sculpture of Mercury in front of an eagle by Jules-Alexis Coutane's and the colorful, apparently gold embelished huge clock below that.
I enjoyed painting this very much because of the subject matter and extreme perspective. However I had some difficulty pertaining to a security guard which I won't go into. Suffice to say that I was somewhat frustrated by the experience, so therefore it will probably be a long time, if ever, that I repeat this painting location.
