This was painted approximately three years ago in the summer (2005). This is an ocean view seascape, or rocky beach scene that was painted in the morning in Acadia National Park in Maine, on Mount Desert Island. The subject is an iconic view of "Otter Cliff" which is along the Scenic Drive. This is an oft photographed view, a geographical wonder which has inspired artists for over a century, including Thomas Cole, the father of the Hudson River school.
