This was painted in the summer, year before last (2007) on my trip to California. It's a painting of the town of Santa Cruz. At this particular vantage point, the street swooped down and one could see buildings, including the beautiful building with the rounded hexagonal roof, and behind that, characteristic trees of California receding into the distance. It was painted in the morning, I high wall creates a dramatic cast shadow to the left and to the right, figures walk into the landscape.
