Oil - 12 x 16"
This was painted just this past Saturday, October 11th, 2008 in Kent, Connecticut, near Bull's Bridge (it's on Bull's Bridge Road). It is a late morning painting, the light was clearly seen hitting the front of the house while the side of the house, facing me, was in shadow, and the light was just beginning to spill over. I was striving for the accuracy in color of the house and getting the relative warms in the light and cools in the dark. The house was further brought out in contrast with the pale tree, catching sunlight behind the house (to the left). Also what was interesting was the autumn colors which culminated in intensity in warm oranges against the clear blue sky, which I painted with ultramarine blue and warmed with the thalo colors, blue and green (one usually doesn't consider warming something when you through in blue and green but this was so because of the yellow contained in the thalo blue and green).
