This was painted in fall last year, 2007, in the morning. What attracted my attention to the scene was the bright red-orange autumn foliage against the clear blue sky. It was painted at North Salem Open Land Foundation near Brewster, NY. There is a horse stable nearby and occasionally you will see riders on horseback go by as one did while I was painted this, which I quickly dashed in and refined later in the studio.
