Oil - 14 x 18"
The painting was done on a grey (cloudy) day in December in Ward Pound Ridge park in upstate New York. The painting depicts a grove of pine trees and two roads, a paved road with the icy hues of winter and the other road, a dirt road, but in this case it might be more accurately called a "pine needle road" because of all the fallen pine needles which make a Indian red color. You can see the tire some of the tire tracks where the tires didn't totally dissolve the snow. The scene presented interesting composition and abstract design elements. The green shrubbery of the evergreen pine needles, at the top of the painting, echoes the curvature of the roads below. In the background is a little house, barely discernible because of the snow and subtle tones.
